Terms of Use
Effective September 24, 2026 · Last updated September 24, 2026These terms cover your use of Securo: 2FA Authenticator ("Securo" or "the App") on iPhone, iPad and Mac, made by Claudiu Sararu ("the Developer", "I", "me").
The most important part: Securo holds the keys that let you into your other accounts, and I keep no copy of them. Always keep the recovery codes each service gives you, and keep sync on or an encrypted backup somewhere safe. If you lose every copy, I have no way to bring them back.
1. Acceptance of These Terms
By downloading or using the App you agree to these terms and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Apple Standard EULA"). If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. The App
Securo generates time-based (TOTP) and counter-based (HOTP) one-time codes for the accounts you add, following the published standards (RFC 6238 and RFC 4226). It can sync your accounts between your own devices through your iCloud account, and import and export them in common formats. Codes are worked out on your device from your device's clock; if the clock is wrong, the codes will be too.
3. Licence
Subject to these terms and the Apple Standard EULA, I grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable licence to install and use the App on Apple devices that you own or control. You may not:
- Copy, distribute, sublicense, lease, sell or otherwise transfer the App or any part of it.
- Modify, decompile, reverse engineer or disassemble the App, except where applicable law expressly allows it.
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark or other notices in the App.
- Use the App to break any law or to access accounts you are not authorised to access.
- Try to get around the App's in-app purchase.
4. The Unlimited Purchase
Securo is free for up to 10 accounts. Unlimited Accounts is a single, one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase (US $9.99 or the local equivalent shown in the App Store) that removes the limit. It is not a subscription and never renews.
- It is processed entirely by Apple. I never receive your payment details.
- It covers iPhone, iPad and Mac through Universal Purchase, and can be shared with your Family Sharing group.
- Restore it on another device signed in to the same Apple Account with Restore Purchases, on the purchase screen or in Settings > About.
- If you ever have more than 10 accounts without the purchase, for example synced from another device, they all stay visible and keep working. Only adding new ones is blocked.
Refunds are handled by Apple under its standard policy. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. I cannot issue refunds myself.
5. Your Responsibilities
- Recovery. Keep the recovery or backup codes each service gives you when you turn on two-factor authentication. They are your way back in if you lose access to Securo.
- Backups. Your accounts exist only on your devices and in your own iCloud. If you delete them, lose your devices without sync, or lose access to your iCloud Keychain, they cannot be recovered by me. An encrypted backup file, stored somewhere safe, protects you against this.
- Exports. Plain-text and QR exports are not encrypted. Anyone who gets hold of them can generate your codes. Keep them private and delete them when you are done.
- Your devices. Securo is only as private as the device it runs on. Use a device passcode, and consider turning on Securo's own lock.
6. Third-Party Services
Securo works with accounts at services it has no connection with, and with Apple's iCloud and App Store. Those services are governed by their own terms. Issuer names and icons are shown only to help you recognise your own accounts; they belong to their owners and do not imply any endorsement.
7. Privacy
Securo collects no personal data. See the Privacy Policy for the details.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. I do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that codes will always be accepted by every service, or that defects will be corrected. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, I will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, access, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the App. This includes being locked out of an account because codes were lost, deleted, exported carelessly or generated from a wrong device clock. My total liability for any claim relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim.
10. Apple's Role
These terms are between you and me, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. I am solely responsible for the App, its maintenance and its support. If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the App. Where these terms and the Apple Standard EULA conflict, the Apple Standard EULA prevails.
11. Changes to These Terms
I may update these terms from time to time. The new version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated terms.
12. Termination
Your licence ends automatically if you break these terms. You can stop using the App at any time by deleting it. Export or back up your accounts first if you want to keep them.
13. Governing Law
These terms are subject to the governing-law and dispute-resolution provisions of the Apple Standard EULA. Anything that EULA does not cover is governed by the laws of the place where you live.
